Sensei Paul Evans
Paul Evans began training in boxing in 1985. Boxing was his passion and after several years he also began to wrestle. Although he enjoyed both, he wanted to become a more complete fighter and decided to take up the martial arts. His first experience was in Tae Kwon Do. This was fun at first but Mr. Evans was looking for a more complete system, one that included weapons training, grappling as well as self defense. In 1992 Mr. Evans met Carlos Ferrer. Mr. Evans loved the mixed martial arts system taught. The style includes Karate Shin Toshi, Gen Jiu Jitsu, American Do and Goju Ryu.

Mr. Evans trained hard and in no time was teaching many of the classes and earned the rank of red belt. After 4 years Mr. Evans was introduced to Skip Carlsen and began training under him. Mr. Evans really took to the freestyle nature of this system and became on of the schools top instructors. In 1996, Mr. Evans earned his Black Belt under Mr. Carlsen. Due to a career opportunity Mr. Evans moved away and was no longer able to train with Mr. Casrlsen. Sensei Evans and Mr. Carlsen remain dear friends and continue to train together as time allows.

Moving away offered the opportunity to find what Mr. Evans states as “one of the most complete systems and talented instructors that he has ever met”. His name was Master Tom Garriga. The system taught was called Wu Ji Chyuan Fa and was a reality based combat system that has been taught to a small elite group for over 2,000 years. Master Garriga was also a 9th degree Black belt under Ed Parker. He has also earned Black Belts in over 11 other systems and has trained for some 50 plus years. Mr. Evans finally found a system the taught was he was looking for, reality based self defense, grappling, weapon training, life skills, hostage and terrorist training and much more... In 2004 Mr. Garriga moved away to Seattle to taker a Government job teaching self defense to a group of Special Forces.

Since Mr. Garriga moved away, Mr. Evans has trained in Aikido under Sensei Jorge Valladares, Gracie Jiu Jitsu under his good friend Eddie Edmunds (black belt under Professor Perdo Sauer). Mr. Evans is on his 4th year in BJJ.

Mr. Evans was introduced to David Luna a Krav Maga instructor in 2004. Since that time Mr. Evans has trained in Krav Maga and has become a certified Instructor under Krav Maga World Wide. Mr. Evans continues to train in Krav Maga under the careful eye of Mr. John Whitman. Mr. Whitman is considered by many as one of the top and most knowledgeable Krav Maga instructors in the world. Mr Whitman was the Vice President of Krav Maga Worldwide organization for many years and was the “Instructors instructor”. Mr. Evans travels to L.A. once a month to spend time learning from this remarkable instructor. Mr. Evans believes that to be the best you need to train with the best.

Andie Evans
1st Degree Black Belt
Assistant Instructor

Sensei Andie has been training in the martial arts under her dad, Sensei Paul Evans, since she was 3 years old. Over the past 13 years she has excelled in so many areas. She is known in our school as the "hard instructor" who makes you do basics over and over. She is a talented, driven young lady who has earned the respect of so many students and parents. Andie continues to train 3-4 times a week as well as teach the 3-5 year old class. This is a tough age group and takes a unique talent to keep them focused, learning and having fun. She has no problem with this group.

Just because you are a good martial artist doesn't make you a good teacher. She is both and that is rare. We are very lucky to have such a positive female black belt as a role model.

Andie is also training in Krav Maga.
